AuthentiGate Terms of Service

1. Introduction

Welcome to AuthentiGate! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of AuthentiGate, a Discord bot run by Whiskey Bots ("we", "us"). AuthentiGate gives Discord servers verified age and region roles, using ID verification run by our provider Persona, plus pronoun and gender roles, moderation and ticket tools, and the web panel at panel.authentigate.gg.

These Terms apply to everyone who uses AuthentiGate: members who verify or use its commands, server owners and staff who add and configure it, and anyone who buys Premium. By using AuthentiGate, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use AuthentiGate.

AuthentiGate is not made by or affiliated with Discord.

2. Services Provided

AuthentiGate offers:

  • ID verification. A member verifies once with a photo ID and a selfie on Persona's page. Persona runs the check; AuthentiGate never sees the images. After a successful check, every server that uses AuthentiGate can give the member the Verified, age-band and region roles it has set up. Region means the region of the country on the ID (Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania or South America).
  • Profile roles. Pronoun and gender roles that members choose themselves in /profile.
  • Server tools. Moderation and cases, reports, appeals, automation and tickets.
  • Premium, a paid, per-server subscription (see section 3).

Each server decides which roles it uses and what happens to members who don't meet its age requirement. These services assist server administrators in managing access; they don't replace a server's own judgment or legal obligations (see section 4.5).

3. Free Verifications and Premium

3.1 Free allowance. Every server gets 5 free ID verifications a month. Each member's verification counts as one. The count resets on the 1st day of each calendar month, and unused verifications don't carry over. When a server has used this month's verifications, new verifications in that server wait until the count resets or the server gets Premium. Servers can also earn extra free verifications from Top.gg votes; vote bonuses are a free perk that we may change or end at any time.

3.2 Premium. Premium is sold per server through Stripe for $5.00 a month, plus any tax shown at checkout. It removes the server's limit, giving it unlimited ID verifications, and unlocks the Premium features listed at docs.authentigate.gg/commands/premium. Subscribing needs the Manage Server permission in that server. The person who pays ("the payer") is responsible for the payment.

3.3 Renewal. Premium renews automatically every month until it is cancelled. Stripe charges the payer's payment method at each renewal.

3.4 Cancellation. The payer or the server owner can cancel renewal at any time with /premium in the server. Premium then stays on until the end of the month already paid for, and does not renew. Payment methods and invoices are managed in Stripe's billing portal (Billing in /premium).

3.5 Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, Premium stays on for a short grace period while Stripe retries, and the payer gets a DM. If payment still fails, Premium ends.

3.6 Refunds. Premium payments are not refunded. If you cancel, Premium stays on until the end of the month already paid for (section 3.4). The only exceptions are the first-payment refund in section 3.7 and the refund in section 10.2.

3.7 EU and UK consumers: right of withdrawal. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK and subscribe to Premium for the first time, you can withdraw within 14 days of your first payment. To do so, ask in the support server at https://discord.gg/Vxq2TQzGtu within those 14 days, and we will refund your first payment and end the subscription.

3.8 Changes to prices and allowances. We may change the price, the free allowance or the Premium allowance. We'll announce changes in the support server. A price change applies from the next renewal after the announcement, and you can cancel before then.

3.9 Granted Premium. We may grant Premium to a server for free, with or without an end date. A grant can be ended at its end date or under section 10.

4. User Responsibilities

4.1 Compliance: You must comply with all applicable laws and regulations, Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, and must not use AuthentiGate for any unlawful purposes.

4.2 Age: You must meet Discord's minimum age to use Discord, and so to use AuthentiGate (13 in most countries).

4.3 Accuracy: You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide to AuthentiGate and to Persona. Verify only with your own, genuine, valid ID. One ID verifies one Discord account.

4.4 Acceptable use: You must not:

  • use someone else's ID, a forged or altered ID, or another person's face, or help anyone else do so;
  • try to verify more than one account, or get around the verification limits, cooldowns or locks;
  • abuse reports, appeals or tickets, or use AuthentiGate to harass anyone;
  • interfere with, overload, reverse engineer or probe AuthentiGate, its web panel or its providers' systems;
  • resell AuthentiGate or Premium, or misrepresent your connection with us.

Verification has built-in limits: after 3 failed attempts within 30 days new attempts pause, after cancelling you wait 10 minutes, and after deleting your data you can't verify again for 30 days.

4.5 Server owners and staff: If you add AuthentiGate to a server or configure it, you are responsible for:

  • the roles, age requirements, verification gates, moderation actions, AutoMod rules and tickets you set up, and what happens to members because of them;
  • making sure your server's use of AuthentiGate, including any age-restricted content, complies with Discord's rules and the laws that apply to your server;
  • giving AuthentiGate the permissions it needs, and keeping its role above the roles it manages;
  • using /inspect, cases and other member information only to run your server.

AuthentiGate's roles help you manage access. They are not a guarantee that a member is of a certain age or from a certain region, and they don't by themselves make your server compliant with any law.

4.6 Privacy: Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how data is handled.

5. Data Handling

5.1 Data Collection: AuthentiGate collects the data it needs to run the services, as described in our Privacy Policy. Your ID images, selfie and name stay with Persona; AuthentiGate never receives them.

5.2 Use of Data: We use data only to provide and protect AuthentiGate: verification and roles, moderation, tickets, Premium and billing, preventing fraud and duplicate accounts, and support. We never sell your data or use it for advertising.

5.3 Data Protection: We take reasonable steps to protect data from unauthorized access, alteration or destruction. AuthentiGate's database is hosted by Hetzner in Germany.

5.4 Your controls: You can see your data in /profile, download it with /download_my_data, and delete it with /delete_my_info. The Privacy Policy explains what deleting removes and what it keeps.

6. Third-Party Services

AuthentiGate relies on services we don't control:

  • Discord, the platform AuthentiGate runs on. Discord's own terms and policies apply to your use of Discord.
  • Persona, which performs ID verification under a data processing agreement with us. Persona's privacy notices are at https://withpersona.com/legal/privacy-notices. Persona decides whether a check passes; we don't guarantee its results.
  • Stripe, which processes Premium payments under Stripe's own terms and privacy policy. We never see your card details.

We are not responsible for these services' availability or for how they act under their own terms.

7. Intellectual Property

All rights, title and interest in and to AuthentiGate, including its code, name, logo and website content, are and will remain the exclusive property of Whiskey Bots. We give you a limited, personal, non-transferable right to use AuthentiGate under these Terms. Content you or your server create (such as case reasons, ticket messages and server settings) remains yours; you let us store and process it to run the service.

8. Availability and No Warranty

We work to keep AuthentiGate running, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". It may be interrupted for maintenance, by Discord, Persona, Stripe or our host, or by limits such as a daily cap on new verifications. We may add, change or remove features. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including that verification results are accurate or that AuthentiGate will be error-free or always available.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Whiskey Bots is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, including loss of profits, goodwill, use, data or other intangible losses, resulting from your use of AuthentiGate or from actions taken by servers, their staff, Discord, Persona or Stripe. Our total liability for any claim relating to AuthentiGate is limited to the total paid for Premium for the server concerned in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, such as liability for intent, gross negligence, or death or personal injury, where applicable, or your mandatory rights as a consumer.

10. Termination

10.1 By you: You can stop using AuthentiGate at any time. Members can delete their data with /delete_my_info; server owners can remove the bot from their server; payers can cancel Premium as described in section 3.4.

10.2 By us: We may suspend or end your access to AuthentiGate, or block an account from verifying, if you breach these Terms, if we suspect fraud or abuse of verification, if the law or Discord requires it, or if we stop offering AuthentiGate. Where reasonable we'll tell you why through Discord. If we end a paid Premium subscription for a reason other than your breach of these Terms, we will refund the unused part of the period already paid for.

10.3 What happens next: When access ends, the parts of these Terms that by their nature should continue (such as sections 7, 8, 9 and 11) continue. Data is kept or deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms. We'll announce changes in the support server and update the effective date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects Premium subscribers, we'll announce it before it takes effect, and you can cancel before then. By continuing to use AuthentiGate after a change takes effect, you agree to the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Disputes will be heard by the courts located in New York. This does not remove any mandatory consumer protections you have under the laws of the country where you live, including your right to bring a claim where those laws allow it.
